Why am I doing this?

I’m a nerd, ya’ll. I’m not ashamed about that fact. Ever since I was a kid and preferred to finish reading a book before I went to play with friends, it’s been a large part of who I am. I come from a long line of nerds and am very proud of that. I have some of my Grandmother’s college books and in them, she has written little notes and questions. I come by it genetically, that’s for sure.  We are also a family of action, preferring to stay busy versus vegging out on the couch to the tel-lie-vision.

When I get interested in a subject, I dive deep into it.  I’ll read blogs, find others who are experts and read what they have to say or watch their videos, I find books on the subject and find podcasts to listen to and if I’m very interested, I’ll start to look for education courses that I can take.

2020 was a wake up call for me, like it was for many others. While I’d been interested in natural healing and growing my own herbs and food, I hadn’t buckled down to do research and become an expert in it. I relied on those around me who were “smarter than me about that stuff”.  Big mistake.  I wasn’t owning the fact that I needed to take responsibility for my own health. Outsourcing that was the lazy path and I realized that.

In the last 3 years, our family has taken greater responsibility for everything that goes into our bodies and onto our bodies. Being very strict about this has led us to a life of absolute freedom and joy because we don’t fret about what the “system” is doing because we have our own and backups to that.  Leveraging my newly gained knowledge, I tried (and failed) many things and started to get pretty good at them over time. Like working out, being consistent about it will absolutely yield positive results.

We have massive garden plots throughout our property where there used to be grass. It produces gorgeous produce and medicinal herbs that heal us. We have built a greenhouse to get a head start on the growing season and walking trails to keep us active and energized. Most importantly, we got out of the grocery store and into a local food system that keeps us sustained with highly nutrient dense foods for the things we cannot grow ourselves and we personally know the people we get that food from.

When I started going through hormonal changes (I’m in my late 40’s), I found another subject to dive deep into and that was sleep.  Having done the work of shoring up our food system, I now needed to shift from maintaining health to focusing on a key part of that, which is sleep.

It’s absolutely critical to help our bodies function and I was starting to lose my health balance because I was losing it.

I learned the importance of sleep health and getting that 1st ray of morning sun onto my skin from hearing Jackie Jolie on a podcast (https://lightshapes.life/

I took an amazing course from Coaching for Insomniacs: https://www.coachingforinsomniacs.com/refresh-sleep-course

I took a full blood and hormone panel with the help of my naturopath and discovered I produce basically ZERO Gaba in my gut and my system was dumping the stress hormone Cortisol at night, so I needed something to help me with that.  Enter magnesium.

I read article after article about it and then I started testing it (more on that in a future blog post). As I shared in my previous post, I landed on the transdermal method and set out to create a formulation that had limited ingredients and that WORKED.

After much trial and error, the product I created is now out in the world and transforming the sleep of many people. I hope that you will be one of them and please, share your results by sending us a message through the website.

Sweet dreams, ya’ll!
